Good morning Bernd, do you like Sushi?
This Bernd loves Sushi, but he is too poor to eat it often so a while ago he decided to learn how to make it himself.

Pic related is his last trial from December, without the booze it was about 15 Euros, enough for 4 people. For this flavour and quality you would easily pay 90+ Euros in a Sushi restaurant.

Today evening he will try it again, this time he will try to:
- make WARSHIP sushi (not so hard)
- not fuck up the eggs structure (hard)
- possibly make eel sushi, if eel is available on the local market

Should Bernd post how he makes the Sushi? Does anyone give a shit?

Enjoy your parasite

this, and besides I don't mean to be a hater but it usually just tastes like seaweed as it obscures the taste of the fish pieces

rice, seaweed and seafood are NOT a combo that works

yep, thats why they eat it with tons of sojasauce.
t. never ate Sushi

This is indeed the reason why salmon was and is not used in traditional sushi.
But now that we can simply freeze fish to -30°C to kill any possible the parasites, it is not dangerous anymore.

>it usually just tastes like seaweed
I assume this opinion comes from bad sushi that is often available even in supermarkets in the west. It consists mainly of makizushi, the cheap to produce rice rolls wrapped in nori leaves.
The big and beautiful fish pieces are used for Nigirizushi, in which no seaweed is used to destroy the flavour.
Pics related, from left to right: tuna, eel, salmon, and roasted salmon with cheese.

freezing is not thought to be 100% effective against worms actually even though it does make a difference

I like sushi.

Also question to the naysayers: If parasites are such big problem, why is it allowed in Western nations with high food standards?
FinlandBernd2021-02-13 12:46:51 · 5yNo. 109586reply
because it is an established form of fast food even in the wect and people would get really butthurt if it wasn't allowed

salt water fish also doesn't have THAT many parasites (afaik), freezing removes some of them, and fish parasites are often not as dangerous as red meat parasites are (eg. the pig tapeworm)

So it's not really a problem and it is just something Bernds say to make others worry? Like saying licking a minge once gives you throat cancer?

Oops, forgot the making process but here is the result. I'm getting better but it was still 3h of work.
FinlandBernd2021-02-13 21:23:35 · 5yNo. 109626reply
it is a real problem and eating sushi is a gamble in this regard but it may turn out just fine in the end if you're not unlucky

not as bad as eating raw pork in any kc's
