news in modern day is entertainment, and people are innately drawn to negativity
to increase the people consuming their news, the media focuses on the worst of the worst
sometimes ie nearly always when the news isnt terrible enough, they add more spin and even more negativity to it.
end result is a microscope on all the worst things happening around the world at a given point, told through a pessimistic lens.
i can definitely see how this would get to many, but i suppose ive just become numb to it over the years.
and perhaps its an indication of my own declining sanity, but i genuinely enjoy it, and often laugh at it.
its like dadaism come alive.
each day gets progressively more insane, and i wonder how it could be topped.
and then the next day comes, and behold: its even crazier.
for those who become demoralized from consuming too much of it, i recommend cold turkey cessation. news, unless its news about your immediate surroundings, generally does not affect the average persons day to day in a terribly a significant way. over time it can, sure, but if staying informed leads to you becoming depressed, then id say ignorance is bliss.
but if youre like me, then get the popcorn ready because it looks like were still just getting started
