Mariupol: Satellite images suggest mass graves dug near besieged city
A US satellite firm says it has identified a mass burial site containing about 200 graves near Mariupol, a city Russian forces have been trying to wrest control of for weeks.
Maxar said its images showed an expansion of graves that began at the end of March.
Local Ukrainian officials accuse the Russians of burying Mariupol civilians killed by Russian troops there.
Moscow has not yet responded.
Russian troops control most of Mariupol after weeks of bombardment and fighting, but some Ukrainian forces remain in a sprawling steelworks in the city. President Putin has abandoned plans to storm the Azovstal plant and instead told troops to seal it off.
Mariupol steelworks: 'Block it so a fly can't pass,' Putin orders
The alleged mass grave is near a village called Manhush about 20km (12 miles) west of Mariupol. Maxar said there were four sections of linear rows about 85m long.
The BBC has not independently verified the images.
Mariupol city council earlier issued its own statement accusing the Russians of burying civilians at the same location.
The council said the Russians were digging trenches and "using dump lorries to bring the bodies" and provided its own aerial image of the site, which it said was "already twice as large as the nearby cemetery".
The city's mayor Vadym Boichenko says tens of thousands of civilians may have been killed in Mariupol
Moscow has repeatedly denied accusations by Ukraine and its Western allies that Russian troops and top Kremlin politicians are responsible for mass killings of civilians.
Earlier this month, Maxar images of the town of Bucha outside Kyiv appeared to show bodies of civilians lying in the street nearly two weeks before the Russians left the town as part of a withdrawal from northern Ukraine.
The image from 19 March, first reported by the New York Times and confirmed by the BBC, contradicted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's claim that footage of bodies in Bucha had been "staged" after the Russians withdrew.
Bucha Mayor Anatoliy Fedoruk has said that least 300 civilians were killed in the town.

Satellite images reveal new mass graves at Ukrainian cemetery near Mariupol
Russian troops reportedly taking bodies to this southeastern Ukraine town
Newly-released satellite images Thursday appear to show the existence of a new – and growing – mass grave site outside of the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
The site is located on the northwest corner of Manhush, a town about 12 miles west of Mariupol, and expands upon an already existing cemetery there, according to Maxar Technologies.
"According to recent media reports, Russian soldiers have been taking the bodies of people killed in Mariupol to this location," the company said in a statement.
"A review of our satellite images from mid-March through mid-April indicate that the expansion of the new set of graves began between March 23-26, 2022 and has continued to expand over the past couple of weeks," it added.
Maxar Technologies say the images show four new sections of graves placed in rows, with each section being about 279 feet in length.
Overall, more than 200 new graves have appeared at the site, it also said.
Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko said Thursday that Russian troops are burying Ukrainian civilians killed in the conflict at the site in Manhush in order to cover up "military crimes."
Boychenko said that "the bodies started disappearing from the streets of the city," accusing the Russians of "hiding the trace of their crimes and using mass graves as one of the instruments for that."
"They are taking the bodies of the dead residents of Mariupol in trucks and throw them into those trenches," he said. "They are hiding their military crimes."
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared victory in Mariupol on Thursday, but President Biden later said the claim was "questionable."

Russia is attempting to build an empire and to become a global superpower again. That requires imperialistic expansion on the expense of smaller sovereign nations and adding them inside your border. First is Ukraine, then it will be Moldova and the Baltic states.
So one of the sides is warmongering and attacking, the other one is defending its independence against the aggressor - if you have trouble following then just take a look at a map and check on which countrys side of the border the conflict and expansion is happening.
As corrupt as Ukraine is, it's still a democracy that wants to be independent and part of the civilized and modern West hegemony. Russia again is an authoritarian 2nd world country with a dictator where journalists are assassinated.

I'd go as far as argue that "corruption" is inherent to democracies and good. **Well, to be honest, like all political systems, in practice it can only be as good as the people themselves. Systems can only hold back, never advance. But that's another discussion.**
It is the main mechanism a community has in safeguarding local power structures by consensus, and keeping foreign infiltrators from being able to take over.
Of course, theorycels and other kinds of autistics have a really hard time grasping that, having zero concept of human nature.

Russians really aren't normal.
I mean, I met some outside of Russia and they were perfectly nice people. I liked them a lot and its easy to see why the majority of Westerners think the Russians are just like us. But these past few weeks I have learned a lot about them and as a society, they are fundamentally different from the rest of Europe. And worse, I'm sad to say. Take this for example:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dedovshchina
I mean, hundreds of conscripts dieing or killing themselves due to rape and violence in the military? In principle, things like this exist everywhere. There have been a few incidents in the Bundeswehr that were in the media, with one case of death afaik. But thats 1 several years ago. Not 292 yearly.

It's no wonder this talk by a Finnish intelligence officer went viral recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF9KretXqJw
Trying to redraw Europe's borders via war and genocide is anathema to the mentality of non-Russian Europeans. We now have to come to understand this difference and how to deal with it. And Russians' reactions to this on imageboards don't really make me more sympathetic to you. Quite the opposite.

I see you still don't understand.
The point is, any functional system you want to base your society on, needs to not completely ignore human nature and pretend it isn't there, but acknowledge it and use it for betterment of self.
Using your contrived example, that would be like pretending that killing and raping doesn't exist in your society, and also forbidding men from having sex. This is what a democracy in which you want to pursue the "we don't have corruption guys :^)" is like.

i still remember how Obama was predicting quagmire in Syria for Russia in 2015, saying we can't support Assad and he will go
Obama was wrong. Quagmire predictions wrong. Aleppo was taken and while everyone pretended it was some super important city when Russia and Assad were taking it, everyone IMMIDIATELLY forgot about Aleppo after Syria regained control over the city. At some point not knowing "what is Aleppo??" could kill your political career because propaganda made this city to be some of the most important cities on the planet and in half a year this city lost all of its significance and no one's political carrer would suffer if he or she says "who gives a shit where this Aleppa or whatever the hell that shithole is"
Same shit about Mariupol actually. Soon after DNR and Russian army took it over - it suddenly lost its significance

> Same shit about Mariupol actually. Soon after DNR and Russian army took it over - it suddenly lost its significance
That's simply because when there's ongoing battle or siege it's an object of importance as things can develop differently and when it's over, well, it's over. About Mariupol - everyone knew the city will fall to Russians. It was besieged, it was deep in Russian-controlled territory. The question which was in the air was not if it falls or not but when and at what price for Russian army.
Same shit goes for your media btw. Kyiv was told to be important - but as soon as your army started to retreat it suddenly turned out to be out of scope of the "operation". Kharkiv was told to be important **your beloved azov troops are located there as well** - now you lost the territories around it and it's suddenly out of scope as well.

Which is why media constantly telling their wishfull thinking as if Putin wants a way out or to declare some short victory and go home. Nope. We have endured a lot of pain already, now clocks only work in our favor. This battle only began but we will see it end in our favor

brah, the push was destroyed. We really fortifying Kherson, because there is a fear, that if Ukraine is to attack Kerch bridge to Crimea, we need the land bridge to Crimea, the territiry of Kherson and Zaporozhye. So a lot of work right now is made not even on taking Donbasss, but on fortyfying and establishing control over Kherson. Ukraine simply doesn't have forces to push and capture a lot of territory there with our air superiority. Like they make an incursion on some road, and we quickly send planes there to burn it. Its fullish waste of soldiers. And when they fail - your media is not even talking about failed Ukrainian counter-offensive, because they don't report on Ukrainian casualties at all, as if they are not dying or loosing vehicles. I watched a few telegramm channels and twitter accounts from OSINT type hacks and they just post about Russian loses and how Ukraine constantly capturing new vehicles. Meanwhile they lose territory and retreat.

According to Dennis Schmychal, number of civilian casualties in Ukraine is dozens of times higher than number of KIA.
We have no Ukrainian claim for how many military casualties on their side, from which we can tell that the Russian claims are true.
I can't find recent Russian claims for Ukrainian personnel losses (only equipment is updated daily), but in mid April, the number stood at 23,367. Since it's been almost a month and a half since, and since Russian attacks have intensified in the last 2 weeks, we can extrapolate that Ukraine has incurred enormous losses, likely over 40k by now.
This would, in turn, imply that Russia has killed "dozens of times" that many civilians: assuming two dozen, that amounts to a million.
Conclusion: Russia has already committed at least 1/6 of a holocaust upon the Ukraine.

High numbers of civilian casualties is a feature for Ukraine, not a tragedy. They deliberatelly set up defensive positions in schools, nurseries and kindergartens. Hiding behind kids, firing from windows of childcare buildings, trying to attract fire and then cry about "Muh ebil Russians targeting kids!, gibe us more money and weapons to defend our oligarhs!"
Ukraine authorities don't care if some kids die, they care more if the European politicans applaud Zelensky on some meeting. The cost of kids life is well worth some cheap sympathies for Ukrainian president and his army command, which is why they continue this strategy.

Unfortunately, it would seem that Russia is undergoing some kind of mass psychosis event, and their perceptions no longer correspond to reality on the ground
May I note that this exact same psychosis also contributed to absolutely horrendous strategy in the first couple of weeks of the war. The failures were clearly the result of Russians actually believing the propaganda and taking wrong decisions based on that. This also proves that it is indeed Russia that is removed from reality, and not the other way around.

“While many are putting the focus on Kherson and Kharkiv fronts, the truth is that these fronts aren't going to change in the long term. During the last few weeks the changes of control have occurred along the front lines without actually breaking the defensive lines on both sides.
We can observe how the Russian strategy, similar to what happened in Syria, consists in luring the enemy to abandoned positions & then wearing him down, making the Ukrainian victories costly & without strategic value, since the positions taken are no more than small localities.
It's in the Donbas region where a major battle is taking place, and where the focus is likely to be on throughout the summer. The latest Russian& pro-Russian rebel advances suggest that the battle is entering in a turning point and that the front is likely to crumble very soon.
However, the battle for each locality is a huge drain on both sides, especially the Popasna area, where the situation is very costly for the pro-Russian & Ukrainian troops. Over the next weeks we will witness the end of the Donbas salient, which is considered the epicenter of the battle for eastern Ukraine. This battle will be slow and will be divided into several phases, some of which are already taking place. The first phase is the capture of the eastern shore of Donets river, where Severodonestsk city is located. With the destruction of bridges a semi-siege will slowly drain the capabilities of the remaining Ukrainian forces which will suffer continue attacks trying to envolve them. The duration of this phase will depend on the resistance of Ukrainian forces and the delay of combats due to civilian evacuation eastwards.”
Bernd

No. 177349
“Pararell to this, the second phase consists in the elimination of Zolote salient. Currently Russian & pro-Russian rebels are slowly advancing through the high ground in order to encircle the aforementioned area. This will force Ukrainian army to withdraw north towards Lysychansk.
Then, the following phase will be the encirclement of Lysychansk by advancing north to Donets river, thus joining with allied forces. Ukrainian forces will continue withdrawal towards west, but there is possibility of a new urban battle in Lysychansk city similar to Mariupol one.
With the lost of Donbas salient & their main defenses, Ukrainian Army will withdraw towards the mountain range that runs from Nikolaevka until Gorlovka, passing through the city of Artemivsk, probably the most difficult battle in this phase & solved by encircle movements.”

Finnish President Niinisto says Turkey has agreed to back Finnish and Swedish NATO membership
MADRID, June 28 (Reuters) - Finland's President Niinisto said on Tuesday that Turkey has agreed to support Finland and Sweden's joint membership of NATO, on the first day of the alliance's summit in the Spanish capital Madrid.
Niinisto said the breakthrough came after the three countries signed a joint memorandum "to extend their full support against threats to each other’s security."

Statement by the President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö on 28 June 2022
Today in Madrid, before the start of the NATO summit, we had an in-depth meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, supported by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
As a result of that meeting, our Foreign Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between our countries confirming Turkey's support for inviting Finland and Sweden to join NATO at this week's Madrid Summit. The concrete steps for our accession to NATO will be agreed among NATO allies over the next two days, but that decision is now imminent.
Our Memorandum of Understanding emphasizes that Finland, Sweden and Turkey are committed to giving each other full support against each other's security threats. As we become NATO allies, this commitment will be further strengthened.
In recent weeks, Turkey has raised concerns about the threat of terrorism. Finland has always taken these concerns seriously. Finland condemns terrorism in all its forms. As a member of NATO, Finland is fully committed to the documents and policies of NATO's counter-terrorism work.
As we develop our co-operation in the fight against terrorism, arms exports and transfers, Finland will, of course, continue to act in accordance with its own national legislation.
I am pleased that this stage on Finland's journey towards NATO membership has been completed. I now look forward to fruitful discussions on Finland's role in NATO with our future allies here in Madrid

Thats false. Some countries wouldn't be targeted by Russia since they would have no NATO forces on their territory and they would present no threat to Russia. Finland was that one country that was in safe heaven, you and Russia knew we are not enemies, we had extremely thin garrisons and almost no millitary on the border, Russia didn't claim any Finnish territory and we even had friendly treaties about sharing the water and cannals.
All of this is now being canceled because of...cockholes. Brilliant. But have fun fighting in Asia eventually, because Americans will drag you not only into war with Russia, but also into war with China, or some proxy-war of the random nation. What country will it be? The existance of millitary force on the border is always a threat. Because there are scenarios where Russia was invaded by its previous allies in the past. Like after revolution of 1917 many Western coutnries invaded Russia.
So even now if something happens in Russia - like a coup in Moscow and Russia will get weak, NATO can capitalize on the moment and invade when no one is in power. Same as in 1917. The more NATO troops we have on border, the bigger the threat. And there is a risk that USA using CIA puppets will try to destabilize Moscow, maybe they try to kill the monke who runs all things and then NATO invades, capitilizing on the broken chain of command.

If they are willing to invent victories, they won't be posting about real defeats. So now there are 1000s of corpses from all the previous failed counter-offensives in Kherson. They tell you that they are starting counter-offensive, it fails and then silence, they announce another counter-offensive, it fails and silence. And this patter repeated around 10 times already

Then, Ukrainian army is surely running out of troops.
So how are they still holding?

They are running out of TRAINED troops, but they have started several waves of mobilisation. They have voencoms going everywhere and sending draft notification letters to every capable male out there in villages in cities, they set up the road blocks and shove these notification letters to people's hands. By law - if you have accepted this letter and saw it and was notified - you are obligated to go to the voencomat - thats military-recruitment-office. And if they evade going there, they will be thrown in jail. People are playing game in all over Ukraine called "Run away from voencom" and "pretend you are not home, when voencom comes, so he can't shove this piece of paper into your hands"
So Ukraine has a lot of people in army now, but most of them are not trained, bad motivation. When they get fired upon, they just run.
A lot of this information is easilty to come about because its in Russia-Ukrainian language, but no one translates it into English, because its a lot of hustle and in the end they don't translate bad news, keeping Westerners in illusion, knowing that language barrier will prevent you from reading bad news. So Ukies keep English speaking retards in pleasent ignorance in echo-chamber where they dump only good news translated into English.

I repeat my question:
So how are they still holding?
It's pretty embarrassing that Russia is failing to advance against an army that supposedly has no motivation and just runs.

why do you think we are failing? We not really advancing it seems because we not even trying. I'm all for advancment, but for now the only one man who decides all of this is Puten, and he seems to be waiting for something. Lets just say he either has some 5D chess ideas that no one understands or maybe he is just monke

Now people started pressing Ukraine propagandists for proofs of the encirclement and they just backpedal, claiming that "the encirclement will happen in the future, but for now not everything is so rosy..."
That won't be translated into English by pro-Ukrainian twitter accounts, lol. Its so easy to control the pipeline of Ukraine news for international viewers - just don't translate news about defeats and failed offensives, but translate every fart about victories even if they are not actuallly victories. Its not like foreigners will be speaking Ukrainian or Russian, so they will never know the real situation besides bits of pieces of goodies that you feed them.
